A Lewiston woman accused of killing a 90-year-old man in Litchfield was arraigned in court on Tuesday.

Shari Allimah, 55, has been charged with murder in the death of 90-year-old Gerald Marin.

A family member of Marin found a bloody scene and a body covered by a blanket at Marin’s home on Hallowell Road in Litchfield on May 18, according to an affidavit.

Police responded and found Marin dead inside.

Bloody footprints were found in the bedroom where Marin was located. There was also a bloody footprint found on the blanket covering Marin’s body, according to the affidavit.

The Maine medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy and ruled Marin’s death a homicide and the cause of death was strangulation associated with “multiple sharp force injuries.”

Following an investigation, Allimah was charged with murder several days after Marin’s body was found. She was already being held at Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn on unrelated charges.

According to the affidavit, Allimah told police she and Marin had a sexual relationship.

Allimah claimed Marin was alive when she left his home, however, police told her she was the last person to see him alive. According to the affidavit, Allimah then said, “If I did it, I don’t remember and I deserve the death penalty.”

She is being held without bail at the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta.
