Expanded facilities, staff, and classes create one-of-a-kind offering for older adults in Maine

FALMOUTH – OceanView at Falmouth is proud to announce that it has expanded its fitness offerings to create a top destination for individuals looking to maintain their healthy, active lifestyles into retirement.

“We’re so proud of this expanded suite of fitness services for residents of OceanView at Falmouth and Cumberland Crossing at OceanView,” said Diane Kibbin, director of operations for OceanView at Falmouth. “We understand how important fitness is to physical and emotional health. We’ve seen growing demand from residents, and we believe that we have created a full-service fitness experience for older adults that is truly unique in Maine.”

In 2020, OceanView opened its new 4,000 square-foot Myron & Gladys Hager Fitness Pavilion, which features a full-complement of cutting-edge equipment, including weight racks, TRX suspension trainers, treadmills, recumbent bikes, elliptical machines, rowers, and spin cycles.

OceanView at Falmouth recently expanded its calendar of classes, which offer a social, supportive experience for working out. With more than 40 classes each week, there’s a wide range of options to choose from, including yoga, tai chi and spin classes, plus Move & Groove dance, and Total Body Boxing, which helps to sharpen speed, power, and hand-eye coordination.

Swimming facilities include a year-round pool at OceanView at Falmouth and a seasonal pool at Cumberland Crossing at OceanView. There are now 17 pool-based classes, including water aerobics, water volleyball, Aqua Stretch and Balance, and lap swimming opportunities.

They work with residents and their physical therapists, occupational therapists, and cardiac rehabilitation therapists, to provide comprehensive, integrated wellness plans that are tailored to individual residents’ needs.
