A tea business is closing its brick and mortar store but will continue online service.

Tea Maineia, located at 145 Main St. in Winterport, will close its storefront and lounge at the end of the year so the owners can spend more time as doting grandparents, the business announced on Facebook.

The 12-year-old shop specializes in loose leaf tea and accessories and will stay stocked through the end of the year so people can do their holiday shopping, the post said. After that the business will continue online and wholesale only. The change will allow the owners more time to source and blend new teas.

It was a “bittersweet” decision to close the storefront, but the owners said they’re excited for their first grandbaby to be born this fall.

“Your unwavering support and loyalty have been the heart of our tea community, and we are deeply thankful for each and every one of you,” the post said. “The countless cups of tea shared, stories exchanged, and friendships formed have made our journey truly special.”
