Portland is looking for a tree to adorn Monument Square this holiday season.

The “perfect tree” will be located within Greater Portland (Portland, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, Gorham, Westbrook, Falmouth, Cumberland or Yarmouth), an evergreen like a spruce or fir, 45 to 60 feet tall and easily accessible without obstructions like powerlines, according to the city.

The city of Portland will remove and transport the tree from the owner’s property at no cost.

If you think you have the perfect tree, you can submit it for consideration at portlandmaine.com/tree as soon as possible. The deadline is Nov. 1.

We have a blue spruce in front of our house. This little beauty needs to come down soon. She stands above the lines & offers her boughs to the snow & ice to tear the cable & electrical utilities. Blue Spruce stands in Old Orchard Beach in front of 11 Goodwin Ave. Take a ride to have a look see!!!!! 🎄. Best regards, (no joke) The Noels 🎅🏼🤶
