THOMASTON – Local residents, families, and community groups are invited to participate in Together for Thomaston, a community-wide service event taking place on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event is designed to connect volunteers with local non-profit organizations to complete essential service projects while fostering relationships between community members and organizations.

Together for Thomaston will begin with registration, including coffee and donuts, at 8:30 a.m. at the Town Municipal Building (13 Valley Street). After a morning of service, all participants are invited to gather for a celebratory lunch to recognize the contributions of the volunteers and reflect on the impact of the day.

Three service projects will be available for volunteers to choose from:

    1. Nonfiction Section Reorganization at Thomaston Public Library
Volunteers will assist with moving shelves to reorganize the nonfiction section and create more space in the children’s area.
    • Volunteers needed: 4-10
    • Ages: 12+
    1. Cemetery Clean-Up at Village Cemetery
Participants will help the Cemetery Trustees with ongoing restoration efforts, general grounds clean-up, and possibly painting.
    • Volunteers needed: As many as possible!
    • Ages: 10+
    1. Outdoor Clean-Up at Pope Memorial Humane Society
Volunteers will tidy up outdoor spaces at the shelter, focusing on the dog area and entrances.
    • Volunteers needed: 2-4
    • Ages: 18+

“This event is a great way to give back to the community, meet new people, and make a tangible difference in Thomaston,” said Kendray Rodriguez, community & economic development coordinator for the Town of Thomaston. “Volunteering is not only an opportunity to contribute to important local projects, but it also helps build lasting relationships with the organizations and individuals you serve alongside.”

The event welcomes participation from individuals, families, and groups such as scout troops, churches, students, and local employers. Volunteering through Together for Thomaston offers a unique chance to connect with like-minded individuals, feel a sense of pride in improving the community, and contribute to the continued success of local non-profits.
