A Maine man was injured Saturday after falling from a tree stand in the woods along the border between Burnham and Unity.

Thomas Goddard, 65, of Acton had been working on the tree stand when he fell, suffering injuries to his head and hip, according to Tom McKenney of the Maine Warden Service.

Goddard and his brother David, who is from Massachusetts, were about 400 yards into the woods off Young Lane in Burnham.

Rescue workers from Burnham and Unity were able to locate Goddard, remove him from the woods and get him transportation to a hospital, McKenney said.

More information was not immediately available about his condition

That’s why I stay on the ground and not to mention it puts you more in the deers face. I have never shot a deer out of a stand either and have shot 28 deer from the ground.
