After six years in business, the owners of Queen City Cinema Club in downtown Bangor announced on Sunday that they would be closing the venue and bar’s doors later this summer.

Owners Josh and Tiffany Moulton posted on Facebook on Sunday that they would be closing their business, which operated as an equal part bar, restaurant, private movie theater and entertainment venue, for two main reasons.

Firstly, that the pair were ready to stop sacrificing their physical and mental health for the business, and secondly, that they never saw the numbers they needed in order to keep the business viable.

“We spent nearly six years trying to figure out why despite serving up some of the best food, cocktails, entertainment, vibes and service in the city, we were almost always empty,” Josh Moulton wrote on Facebook.”

While the owners did not specify a closing date, they expected to announce more details in the coming weeks.

Queen City Cinema Club opened at 128B Main St. in downtown Bangor in 2018 as a bar and small restaurant with two small, private movie theaters for showing films, streaming events and video game tournaments. It also offered board games and video games for customers. In 2020, it expanded to include an arcade and live music, as well as a full restaurant and bar menu. It has since hosted many local and regional bands, drag shows, comedy shows, trivia nights, karaoke and other entertainment offerings.
