Man sent to Massachusetts prison for trafficking firearms from Maine

BOSTON (WWLP) – A man from Maine was sentenced to prison for conspiring to straw purchase firearms in Maine and traffic the firearms to Massachusetts.

According to the Department of Justice in Boston, in September 2022, Breon Stroup allegedly used Snapchat to ask 26-year-old Traveyon Richardson of Bangor, Maine to purchase two specific firearms in Maine and used a cash app to transfer money for the purchase.

Richardson picked up the firearms from a federal firearm license dealer and drove the firearms to Massachusetts in October 2022. Richardson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to straw purchase firearms and trafficking of firearms and was sentenced to two years in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.

The case against Stroup remains pending.
