Sheriff's Deputies Fatally Shoot 2 People While Serving a Warrant in Georgia
ALTO, Ga. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies who were serving a warrant in another county shot and killed two people in northeast Georgia on Tuesday. The Forysth County Sheriff's Office said deputies were serving an arrest warrant on a sex offender for violating the conditions of his probation in the Banks County town of Alto.
GBI investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Banks County
At the request of the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Alto, Banks County, Georgia. Two people died in the incident. No deputies were injured in the incident. Preliminary information indicates at about 9:30am, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputies were at a home on Cedar Drive in Alto to serve an arrest warrant. At about 11:05am, Forsyth County deputies entered the home. During the incident, deputies shot two people. They both died at the scene. Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputies were also at the scene to provide support, but were not directly involved in the incident. A GBI Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on the two people who died in the incident. The identities of the two that died will be released after the families are notified. The GBI will continue to conduct an independent investigation. Once the investigation is complete, it will be given to the Banks County District Attorney’s Office for review.
Two die in Alto shooting
Two people died in an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday, July 16. No deputies were injured in the incident. At the request of the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the officer involved shooting in Alto.
White County Commissioners To Visit Banks County Fire Station
(Cleveland)- At least three members of White County Commissioners will be traveling to Banks County Thursday to check one of that county’s fire stations. The commissioners have arranged to visit Bank County Fire Station #41, in Baldwin, for a tour of that facility. That is Banks County’s newest fire facility and it was suggested to the commissioners they take a look at it for a possible project in White County.
July 4 celebration held in Homer
The Banks County annual fireworks celebration was held on Thursday, July 4, at the Banks County Recreation Department. The event included a bouncy house for children, food concessions and entertainment. The annual fireworks show was provided for and presented by the Homer Volunteer Fire Department.
