My Maine This Week: Borestone Hike by Linda Woods
This week’s photos were sent to us by NRCM member and My Maine This Week frequent photographer Linda Woods of Waterville, Maine. Thanks, Linda!. Along with these beautiful photos, Linda shares some information about the hike up Borestone, as well as what you might see along the way if you decide to do this hike: this is an Audubon Nature Sanctuary (Small admission fee. No dogs.), which includes 1,600 acres in Maine’s Hundred Mile Wilderness region as well as three ponds: Sunrise, Midday, and Sunset (all visible from the summit). And finally, at Midday Pond there is a nature museum that Linda says is good for kids.

Southwest Harbor Fireworks – Thursday July 4th
The Quietside will be anything but, as the Southwest Harbor and Tremont Chamber of Commerce shoot off fireworks at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th. Fireworks will be shot off the Clark Point Road. The Rain Date is July 6th, but it certainly doesn't seem that the rain date will be necessary as the forecast for the day on July 4th and nighttime for the fireworks seems to be ideal!
Hancock July 4th Hot Dog Cookout and Concert
Here's what's happening in Hancock on Thursday, July 4th. The Hancock Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual July 4th Hot Dog Cookout Fundraiser from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Hancock Point. Grilled hot dogs, chips, and sodas will be available by donation at the Hancock Point Boathouse on the corner of Wharf Road and Bay Avenue. The fundraiser supports the Fire and Emergency Medical Services provided by the Department to Hancock and surrounding communities. A Hancock Point Community 4th of July Parade will precede the fundraiser.
