    Boys Hockey: South Central nets a win in regular season finale

    The South Central Navigators are heading into the postseason with a head of steam.

    They wrapped up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 10, with a 4-2 win at Baraboo/Portage, scoring three first-period goals.

    After falling behind 1-0 2:21 into the game, Jackson Rentmeister, Chase Maier and Brendan Barrett all tallied goals for the Navigators in an eight-minute span. Nicholas Rentmeister assisted on the first two Navigator goals, with Barrett also assisting on Jackson Rentmeister’s goal.

    In the second period, Barrett scored the lone goal, as Owen Holmes assisted. That made it 4-1.

    The two teams combined for 32 penalty minutes. Goalie Mason Bieri played in net for South Central, who end the regular season 4-19 overall and 1-9 in Badger Large Conference play.

    Barrett scored the Navigators’ lone goal in a Badger Large Conference loss on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

    The Silver Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter and scored four in the third period to pull away. Barrett’s unassisted goal came in the second period, cutting the deficit to 2-1 at the time.

    Bieri saved 48 of 55 shots.
