UPDATE: (6:30 P.M. July 2, 2024) – For the second time in as many days, a semi got stuck in a major curve on Route 10 in Barboursville. Both of these incidents happened within about 15 hours of each other.

The tractor-trailers are hauling parts of a bridge to a project in Hamlin in Lincoln County. The incident happened earlier in the day on Tuesday, and traffic was backed up until nearly 6 p.m. while crews removed the semi.

Officials say the semi was hauling the third nearly 100-foot-long steel beam to the project. The first beam made it through the curve without any problems, officials say. However, on Monday night, the second beam fell off the trailer while in the curve. It took crews hours to remove it.

The beam on the trailer that got stuck today is the third, and the fourth and final beam is currently at a rest area in Huntington.

A West Virginia Department of Transportation spokesperson says they are still gathering information regarding hauling permits. Cabell County Deputy Sheriff Doug Adams says right now, there is no further information regarding any charges or fines against the driver or the trucking companies.

Neighbors who live along the curve and have been watching the incidents unfold tell WOWK 13 News Reporter Lane Ball it’s not uncommon to see an accident like this happen, but it is fairly uncommon to see it happen back-to-back.

“I stayed up til about 1 o’clock watching the other one that got called up about 3:30 this morning,” said resident Danny Parsons. “And, then I got up about 4:30 to go to work. Then it happens again, you know. My wife texted me and said ‘Hey, another truck’s stuck.'”

CABELL COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Another tractor-trailer is stuck in the same area of Route 10 where a semi’s load shifted Monday night , closing down the roadway.

According to Cabell County dispatchers, this time, traffic is able to alternate around the semi. Dispatchers tell WOWK 13 News this semi has not crashed and a wrecker is en route to help move it out of the way.

There is no word if anyone was injured.

The Cabell County Sheriff’s Office says like the tractor-trailer from Monday night, this semi was also carrying a mega steel beam. However, this beam did not fall off the trailer.
