    Softball: Albertus Magnus ace Teagan Dwyer headlines 2024 lohud Rockland All-County team

    Rockland softball showed dominance with three Section 1 titles, one regional title and a NYSPHSAA final four appearance. Upperclassmen took things to another level this season and one helped her team do things for the first time in program history.

    2024 lohud Rockland Softball Player of the Year

    Teagan Dwyer

    School: Albertus Magnus

    Year: Junior

    Position: Pitcher

    Highlights: The ace of the Falcons led the program to milestones that the program had never seen before. Dwyer and the Falcons won their first ever Section 1 Class B championship and was the lone Section 1 team to make it to the NYSPHSAA semifinals. In the circle, she had a 0.94 ERA allowing 20 walks and struck out 225 in 121.1 innings pitched. The Sacred Heart University commit finished the season with a .528 batting average, .512 OBP, and a .944 slugging percentage. The Conference III-B pitcher of the year had 38 hits, 14 doubles, six triples, four home runs and 40 RBI. She garnered second-team Class B all-state honors and All-Section honors.

    Tara Murphy

    School: North Rockland

    Year: Sophomore

    Position: Pitcher

    Highlights: The ace of the Red Raiders finished the season with a record of 18-3 in the circle leading the team to a third straight Section 1 championship and got the team back to the NYSPHSAA regional finals. The Conference 1-B pitcher of the year had an ERA of 1.39 and struck out 174 in 156 innings pitched. Offensively, Murphy batted .345 with a .404 OBP and .524 slugging percentage. She had 29 hits, five doubles, two triples, two home runs, 17 runs scored, and 28 RBI. She garnered first team Class AAA all-state honors and All-Section honors.

    School: Clarkstown North

    Year: Sophomore

    Position: Catcher

    Highlights: The defensive stalwart for the Rams finished the season with a .486 batting average, a .525 OBP and a .743 slugging percentage. Levin had 34 hits, six doubles, three triples, two home runs, 16 runs scored and 25 RBI. The all-section honoree only struck out three times.

    School: Pearl River

    Year: Senior

    Position: Infield

    Highlights: Arnold was one of the leaders of a very young Pearl River team and had a good season from the Pirates leadoff spot. The shortstop finished the season with a .518 batting average, .570 on base percentage, .747 slugging and 1.317 OPS. She had 43 hits, 13 doubles, four triples, 25 runs scored, and 22 RBI. Arnold stole five bases in five attempts. She garnered third-team Class A all-state honors and All-Section honors.

    School: North Rockland

    Year: Sophomore

    Position: Infield

    Highlights: Finnerty had some big shoes to fill at shortstop for the graduated Allie Murphy and the sophomore did very well. Defensively, out of 82 chances, she only committed four errors for a .951 fielding percentage. Offensively, she was one of the catalysts for the Red Raiders to win the third straight Section 1 title. She finished with .a 325 batting average from the leadoff spot. She had a .431 OBP, .410 slugging percentage. She had 27 hits, seven of which were doubles, 25 runs scored and 14 RBI. She garnered all-section honors.

    Savannah Nordstrom

    School: Tappan Zee

    Year: Sophomore

    Position: Infield

    Highlights: Nordstrom, at first base, has been an anchor for the Dutchmen all year. Defensively, she had a 1.000 fielding percentage. She finished the season with a .366 batting average, 11 doubles, 12 walks, one home run, 18 runs scored and had 20 RBI. She garnered all-section honors.

    Gillian Ulrich

    School: Clarkstown South

    Year: Junior

    Position: Infield

    Highlights: At third base, Ulrich was one of the catalysts for the Vikings that went 19-4 on the season. She finished the season with a .469 batting average, .522 OBP, and a .716 slugging percentage. Ulrich had nine doubles, three home runs, 36 runs scored, a team high 36 RBI, and only struck out four times all season. She garnered all-section honors.

    Grace Camerlingo

    School: Clarkstown South

    Year: Junior

    Position: Outfield

    Highlights: The Conference I-B player of the year was one of the offensive catalysts for the Vikings this year. She finished the season with a .588 batting average, .648 on base percentage, and a .700 slugging percentage. She had five extra base hits including one home run, scored 36 runs, 14 walks, and 28 stolen bases. She garnered all-section honors and fourth-team Class AA all-state honors.

    Siena DeCicco

    School: Clarkstown North

    Year: Sophomore

    Position: Outfield

    Highlights: The leadoff hitter for the Rams played a strong defensive center field. She finished the season with a .395 batting average, .422 OBP, and a .592 slugging percentage. DeCicco had five doubles, three triples, 25 runs scored and 11 RBI. She garnered all-section honorable mention honors.

    Carley Voce

    School: Clarkstown South

    Year: Sophomore

    Position: Outfield

    Highlights: The centerfielder finished the season with a .452 batting average which was the third-highest on the Vikings. Voce had a .512 on base percentage and a .616 slugging percentage. She had seven doubles, a triple, a home run, 31 runs scored, nine walks and 25 RBI. Voce garnered all-section honors and she was 12 for 12 on stolen bases.

    School: Tappan Zee

    Year: Sophomore

    Position: Designated Player

    Highlights: The catcher for the Dutchmen was solid all year long with a .995 fielding percentage. She finished the season with a .466 batting average, seven doubles, a triple, 19 runs scored, and 23 RBI. Chiappa struck out five times all season. She garnered All Section honors and fifth-team Class A all state honors.

    Hannah Leon

    School: North Rockland

    Year: Sophomore

    Position: Designated player

    Highlights: Leon was a reliable player for the Red Raiders at both third base and catcher. She had a .935 fielding percentage with 124 total chances. Leon finished the season with a .333 batting average, .388 on base percentage, and a .402 slugging percentage. She garnered All-Section honors.

    Gianna Longo

    School: Nyack

    Year: Senior

    Position: Utility

    Highlights: Longo was the leader of a young Nyack team that made the Section 1 Class A semifinals for the first time in program history. She finished the season with a .548 batting average, .740 on base percentage, and a .973 slugging percentage. The St. Thomas Aquinas-bound senior had 40 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 11 walks, 26 runs scored and 27 RBI all from the leadoff spot. In the circle, she had a 2.70 ERA in 135 innings pitched with 168 strikeouts. Longo garnered all-section honors and second team Class A all-state honors.

    Kiera Luckie

    School: Pearl River

    Year: Senior

    Position: Utility

    Highlights: Luckie, alongside Arnold, helped carry the young Pirates to the team's first Section 1 title since 2016. In 122 innings pitched, the ace had an overall ERA of 1.20 allowing 99 hits, 17 walks and struck out 149. In games against Class A opponents, she had an ERA of 0.79. Offensively, Luckie finished the season with a .429 batting average, .518 one base percentage, and a 1.147 OPS. She had 30 hits for the season, 10 of which were doubles and two were triples, 19 runs scored, 24 RBI and six stolen bases. Luckie, who will attend the University of Michigan next year, garnered All-Section honors and first team Class A all-state honors.

    Coach of the year

    Chris Woolgar, Pearl River

    Woolgar had his youngest team in recent memory this season and guided the team to their first Section 1 Class A championship since 2016. The Pirates finished the season with a 16-6 record. They had a lead on eventual Class A state champion Marlboro in the regional semifinals.
