BARKER, N.Y. (WIVB) — We’ve seen the Amherst Bear, the Williamsville Turkey, and now, the Barker Peacock?

For roughly a month or more, a brightly-colored bird has been seen roaming the Village of Barker in Niagara County. Residents call him “Kevin.”

“It’s like Barker’s wild pet,” Village Treasurer/Deputy Clerk Laurel Cantella told News 4.

According to Cantella, the rumor going around the village is that the bird escaped from someone’s property but its owner allegedly hasn’t tried to get it back.

“I’ve seen it a ton,” Barker resident Jon Goodwin said. “On top of houses, perched, and one time on top of a car even.”

Goodwin says he first spotted the bird walking onto someone’s front yard in early May.

Kevin seems to have been welcomed with open arms, with people feeding it as it traverses the village, according to Cantella.
