Man Pleads Guilty to Striking Biker With Vehicle in Deadly Hit-And-Run in Cherokee
A man accused of being involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Cherokee has pleaded guilty. According to court documents, 30-year-old Casey Herwig has pleaded guilty to one count of Knowingly Leaving The Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, which is a class D felony. Herwig faces a maximum of ten years in prison, along with a fine between one thousand and ten thousand dollars.
North Iowa Woman Gets Up to 10 Years in Prison Stealing Over $100K from Employer
A north Iowa woman could serve up to a decade in prison for stealing more than $100,000 from her employer. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Malorie Hallock of Mason City last November after she was accused of embezzling the money while she worked at Studio 65 in Clear Lake, stealing $123,000 in business deposits between January and October of 2023. The criminal complaint says Hallock deposited the money into her own account.

ORANGE CITY—The driver’s license station at the Centre Mall in Sioux Center will close this week, according to Sioux County treasurer Dan Zomermaand. A 116-year-old Des Moines house is getting a second chance at life after a local nonprofit took on the fixer-upper in hopes to maintain the historic property. Before the renovation, the house located at 3114 Cottage Grove Ave. was divided into three apartment units. Invest DSM, a nonprofit that specializes in community development, took the property under its care and did a full gut and renovation.
