Police have identified a suspect months after launching an investigation into the death of a pregnant teenager who was killed days before her induction date.

The body of 17-year-old Maylashia Hogg , who was nine months pregnant , was found on February 18 just a few blocks from her home in Barnwell, South Carolina. Hogg was last seen on February 8 and reported missing on February 14 by her family after she missed her induction appointment.

On Monday (July 1), South Carolina officials announced that a suspect had been identified in the case, per PEOPLE . 62-year-old Jacqueline Reid was charged with two counts of murder in conduction to Hogg's death.

According to officials, Reid allegedly stabbed Hogg to death using a sharp-edged weapon. Authorities said Hogg was last seen near Reid's home, where they found “forensic evidence of the crime."

It's unclear if Reid and Hogg knew each other.

“Please keep Maylashia’s loved ones in your thoughts,” Barnwell police chief Michael Butts said in a statement. "We must continue to care for each other, to honor Maylashia and Londyn’s memories, and come together to heal.”
