Winchendon veterans housing project receives economic boost from Fitchburg bank
A $25 million project to convert two vacant Winchendon school buildings into low-income housing for veterans and their families has received another economic boost. Representatives of the Fitchburg-based Rollstone Bank and Trust dropped by the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center in Gardner to deliver a $15,000 check to go toward the group's plan to redevelop the former Streeter and Poland Elementary Schools into 44 apartments for homeless and high-risk veterans in the community.

Massachusetts seems to have a law for everything and while it makes sense for some things others are just strange. As we all know the 4th of July recently passed and Massachusetts is the only state that has a law against consumer fireworks including buying, selling, and using. Some folks agree with this law while others think it's complete nonsense. In addition, this law doesn't seem to be enforced in Massachusetts at least not in my area. BOSTON - The state is taking action after an I-Team investigation exposed nursing homes that are not paying workers. The door was locked, and the lights were off at Blupoint Healthcare's Newton offices on Monday. The woman inside told the I-Team to go away. Massachusetts leads the country in women's health, report says
BOSTON - When it comes to women's health, Massachusetts is leading the country.Women's health in the U.S. has been under threat in recent years, with deaths from preventable causes on the rise and new limits - or in some cases, outright bans - placed on reproductive health around the country. A private foundation called the Commonwealth Fund has developed a state scorecard to track trends in women's health, looking at healthcare quality and prevention, coverage, access, and affordability. Massachusetts was found to have the best-performing health system for women overall, followed by Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire, all New England states. The lowest-ranked states fan out across the Southeast and Southwest.
