Phish Return to Xfinity Center for Summer Tour Kickoff
Last night, July 19, Phish kicked off its long-awaited 2024 summer tour with a return to Mansfield, Mass.’s Xfinity Center. This show marked the first of 26 dates planned for the legendary jam outfit through September 1 and its first public appearance since its four-night residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere on April 18-21 that set a new standard for live performance. The band’s showing on Friday was just as triumphant as anyone could expect, delivering a masterful set that stayed true to the band’s canon and thoroughly honed live format, with just enough twists and turns to keep fans expecting the unexpected in the tour to come.
Group gathers in Stoughton, calling for justice for Sandra Birchmore
A group of people gathered in downtown Stoughton, Massachusetts, on Saturday, demanding justice for Sandra Birchmore. Birchmore was three months pregnant when she was found dead in her Canton apartment in 2021. Her death was ruled a suicide at the time. Last month, however, the Boston Globe reported that Birchmore's family had hired a prominent pathologist who concluded her death was a homicide, not a suicide, prompting a number of new developments in the case.
Man taken into custody after standoff in North Attleboro
NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Officials said that one man was taken into custody after a standoff in North Attleboro on Friday evening. Town officials said police responded to a report of a disturbance on Mount Hope Street at 6:30 p.m. last night and found a man barricading himself inside of a home.
Authorities ID man who died in Rutland jet ski accident
A 46-year-old Attleborough man died Saturday after his jet ski overturned in Turkey Hill Pond in Rutland, the Police Department said in a press release. Rutland police and firefighters went to the pond shortly before 4:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a man who had been operating a jet ski had disappeared under the water after appearing to be in distress. ...

"Community Table," By Portsmouth High School Students
Abigail Link, a Rhode Island College student teacher at Portsmouth High School, led her ceramics students in a project where they were asked to create their own ceramic figure representing their connection to the food system while reflecting on how their community interacts with this system. Inspired by a community engagement course where she had the opportunity to work with Rhode Island Food Policy Council and tour the Pell School Garden, Abigail was eager to bring her students into meaningful conversations about what is needed to build an equitable and resilient local food system. 4 kids taken to RI hospital after eating CBD gummies at YMCA summer camp
Four children were taken to the hospital after they ate CBD gummies at a YMCA summer camp in Coventry, Rhode Island, last week. First responders were called to Camp Westwood YMCA on Thursday morning for four campers who were vomiting, NBC10 Boston affiliate WJAR reports. The children, ages 12 to 15 years old, were taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital.
Poll: McKee's favorability drops among Rhode Island voters
(The Center Square) — Democratic Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee's ratings are continuing to drop, according to a new poll, which found voters overwhelmingly think the state is headed in the wrong direction. The poll, released Thursday by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, found only 29% approve of McKee's performance as governor, while 65% disapprove. Those numbers are largely unchanged from a similar poll conducted by UNH in May, according to the center. ...
