Tweens and Teens in rising grades 6 and up, there’s still time to join Seekonk Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge in-person and online! Log into the free Beanstack app to sign up for the “Read, Renew, Repeat” challenge and collect virtual badges for logging your reading, writing reviews, and participating in activities. Each badge earns one or more raffle tickets that you can enter into weekly online drawings as well as a variety of grand prize drawings. You’ll also want to come visit the library in-person for our last two summer teen programs listed below, as well as to participate in a drop-in scavenger hunt and pick up a weekly pop-in charm for your bracelet (or shoes).

Fall River, MA – A collaboration is leading to ships at Battleship Cove being restored to their historical glory. According to the Fall River Arts Project, Chandler Hearn, a recent graduate of IYRS’s Digital Modeling and Fabrication program in Newport, Rhode Island, has successfully installed custom-built belaying pins on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., a historic Gearing-class destroyer docked at Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts. This installation marks a significant achievement for Hearn, whose capstone project involved creating intricate parts for naval ships.

Dartmouth, MA Month-Long Traffic Delays Begin Tonight
DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — Dartmouth will experience some traffic delays and slowdowns beginning Monday, July 22. Eversource will be replacing the gas main from Patton Street to Metropolitan Street. Milford Offers Free Disposal of Old Trash Containers at Transfer Station
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – So now that Milford has moved to a new trash and recycling system, what are you supposed to do with the old containers? The Town says residents who are on the new trash and recycling program can now bring the old barrels to the Transfer Station to dispose of at no charge. They can only be brought to the Transfer Station during normal working hours but there is no charge and you don’t need a sticker. The Transfer Station is open Thursday and Sunday 10am-4pm and Friday and Saturday 8am-4pm.
New Swim School Opening in Milford at DoubleTree Hilton

The British Swim School is a franchised swimming and water survival skill school with more than 300 locations around the US and Canada. A Shrewsbury couple will run the Milford school from the pool at the DoubleTree Hilton-Milford. The Worcester Business Journal reports it’s a true family affair, with their daughter serving as aquatics manager and their son operations manager. You can take lessons in Milford on Monday through Thursday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Milford High Students Write Song to Support Mental Health
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Some Milford High School students are hoping to use the power of music to help those struggling with mental health issues. The students took part in a project from the National Museum of Mental Health and together wrote a song called “What Makes You Well?” Patch reports the four-minute song was written and recorded at Milford High during the late spring Community Songwriting program and it was done in a collaboration between students, teachers, admin, and the district’s Director of Social Emotional Learning.
