2 Bartlesville sisters headed to world championship for MMA fighting in Indonesia

    2024-07-21

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Two Bartlesville sisters are heading to the world championship for mixed martial arts fighting in Indonesia.

The girls' coach, Houston Stout who is also their dad, told FOX23 that the girls have natural talent.

Ten-year-old Alaina Stout and 9-year-old Jasmine Stout are excited to fight and represent Bartlesville and the state of Oklahoma on an international level.

“I’m going to win the world championship,” Jasmine said.

FOX23 first told you about Alaina and Jasmine last year when they qualified for the world championships in Greece.

Unfortunately, they were not able to go.

“It was frustrating to watch we weren’t able to get the funds to go to Greece last year because traveling intentionally is a very expensive thing to do,” Houston said.

The girls qualified for the world championships again this year.

They will be going to Jakarta, Indonesia.

This competition will be their first time competing internationally.

Both of them said they are excited about new experiences.

“Seeing new places, new food, new artifacts,” Alaina said.

The sisters are coached by their dad, Houston, who used to be an MMA fighter.

“I had stepped away from the sport for about four years and Alaina my oldest was just so aggressive. I knew I needed to give her something to do with that and of course, I didn’t know soccer or any other sport she could play, so I thought I teach what I know. I started teaching her at home and she just went crazy for it,” Houston said.

Houston said his daughters have a natural talent.

He said girls their age don’t typically make it to the international stage at their age.

Alaina ended up beating the girl who won the 2023 world championship in her division at nationals this year.

He expects they will bring back a world championship title.

“She wound up choking her unconscious in under a minute. So if she had been there last year, she would have been the world champion so we are looking forward to doing that this year,” Houston said.

Both girls are set to compete at the world championships in Indonesia the first two weekends of December.

Until then, they will continue practicing their punches and kicks.

The girls will be competing against about 30 girls from all over the world.
