Kennebunkport officials say don't swim at Colony Beach due to elevated levels of bacteria
Officials are warning residents and visitors to stay out of the water at Colony Beach in Kennebunkport near the mouth of the Kennebunk River. The town says test results from Wednesday showed an elevated level of bacteria in the water. They tested again on Thursday and will have those results on Friday.

Main Street to Close for Car Show
Downtown Sanford will be hopping next Friday night, July 26, with the sounds of Doo-wop, the aroma of barbecue and the flash of chrome. More than 100 vintage cars are expected to line Main Street for Cruising with Friends, a car show organized by Friends of Downtown. Main Street between Washington Street and Winter Street will be closed to car traffic from 4 to 8 pm. A food court will be set up at Main Street Marketplace.
Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Drug Trafficking in Maine
A 27-year-old man was sentenced to five years for drug trafficking and possession of meth in Maine. Man Sentenced to 60 Months for Drug Trafficking and Possession. Angel Luis Lozano from Lowell, Massachusetts will serve 60 months in federal prison. He will also have five years of supervised release. He entered a guilty plea on February 15, 2024.
NH law expands medical marijuana qualifiers; Sununu vetoes cannabis greenhouses
Gov. Chris Sununu signed a bill that would expand the reach of therapeutic cannabis in New Hampshire – but vetoed another. As part of a package of legislation on July 12, Sununu signed House Bill 1349, which will add generalized anxiety disorder to the list of qualifying conditions for therapeutic cannabis. The bill, which takes effect Sept. 10, will allow people with generalized anxiety disorder whose condition is certified by a medical professional to apply for a cannabis registry ID and purchase cannabis from one of the state’s nonprofit alternative treatment centers.
