Anthony Edwards on why receiving the gold medal was the greatest moment of his life: "Me just being in the middle of them"

The 2024 Paris Olympics concluded with Team USA winning its fifth straight gold medal. While LeBron James and Kevin Durant had already experienced this feeling, for some guys on the roster, it was time first time standing on the podium.

Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards was among the first-time gold medal winners in Paris. And even though he will probably represent Team USA in the future, it's unlikely he'll get a chance to play alongside James, Durant, and Steph Curry again. That's why the 23-year-old cherished these moments.

Ant's greatest moment of his life

Winning the gold medal at the Olympics is more than enough for an athlete to consider it the greatest moment of their life. However, Edwards' success has another layer to it.

"Steph was No. 4, I was No. 5, Bron was 6, and he [KD] was 7," Edwards said . "So when Steph's name get called, they go crazy, my name get called, they are like, 'Ahhh,' and then Bron's name get called, they go crazy, and then his name get called, they go crazy. So, me just being in the middle of them, I think that was the greatest time of my life. Like my brother took a picture of that. We like, 'Bro, that's the dopest picture we gonna have.'"

Bron, Curry, and KD are undoubtedly the three icons of the modern era, having dominated the NBA over the past 15 years. With Ant being dubbed as the next big thing in the league, it's poetic among these three legends.

Players were drug tested

Team USA was wobbly at times during the 2024 Paris Olympics. After narrowly avoiding a defeat versus Serbia in the semifinals, USAB found itself in a similar situation in the gold medal game against France. However, Curry took over in the clutch as he nailed multiple daggers from deep.

USA's late-game performance was so impressive that Curry, Edwards, and KD were apparently drug-tested after winning the gold medal. It resulted in the trio missing out on the initial locker room celebrations with the rest of the players.

But Ant himself isn't worried about that. All he cared about was the opportunity to spend time with three of the greatest players ever.
