All Karl-Anthony Towns needed in Minnesota was players who could help him win. However, after the Timberwolves landed Anthony Edwards in the 2020 NBA Draft, KAT has seemingly been relegated from franchise player to complementary superstar.

While Ant-Man didn't win Rookie of the Year honors as KAT did, the former Georgia Bulldog has eclipsed the ex-Kentucky Wildcat as the team's main man. Because of that, people are insinuating that Towns is jealous of Edwards. But during his appearance on Paul George's Podcast P, the T-Wolves forward denied those rumors.

"I feel it's weird," said Towns. "The media try to make it seem like I don't want Ant to succeed. I'm the biggest Ant cheerleader and biggest fan. I want to see him win."

KAT wants Ant to be the next face of the NBA

According to Towns, he and Edwards have a big brother-little brother relationship, and they get along just fine. Both of them desire big things for the Timberwolves. They want to win, and they want to win together.

But more than that, Karl wants the Minny guard to reach his true potential as a basketball player and see him accomplish things that have never been done before. He says he is excited to see Ant-Man become the next face of the NBA.

"I just sent him a picture," added Towns. "We was in Rome, me and wifey, and we was just having our vacation. And I saw someone walking down the street with an Anthony Edwards jersey. I ran that boy down, I said 'Yo, that jersey's fire'. He looked at me like, Karl? And I was like, 'Nah, let me get a photo of this real quick,' took my phone out, looked like a tourist taking a photo. Man gave me a thumbs up and all, I send it to Ant."

Melo credits Towns for unlocking Edwards

Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony sees what KAT is talking about. After the Wolves took a 2-0 series lead against the Denver Nuggets during the second round of the 2024 NBA playoffs, Melo praised Towns for embracing Edwards and his ascent as the team's best player.

"I love the fact that Ant has a play, and the position, and the role in KAT playing the way he's playing," Anthony said on his podcast 7PM in Brooklyn. "Ant has a major real estate in that because, for one, Ant has a different type of dog. He has a different type of mentality that KAT still have to get, or he's on his way to trying to get that, while Ant is so young, he has that. So, when you got somebody like that alongside you, who's able to lead even at a young age, I gotta do what the fu*k I gotta do."

With the core of the 2023-24 team returning to run it back, the Timberwolves look to build on their success next season. With their two young superstars in sync, the future looks bright in Minnesota.
