Stephen Curry 's incredible shooting prowess from the three-point line has had an unforgettable impact on the NBA. Evidently, he is considered not only the greatest point guard of this generation but, for many, the best ever to play this position.

While Curry is usually the best guard on the court, there is one player who has rivaled the Baby-Faced Assassin multiple times. Yes, it's none other than Dallas Mavericks superstar Kyrie Irving .

The two faced off numerous times during the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors rivalry in the NBA Finals. But who would win if it was a straight-up 1-on-1 matchup?

Tracy McGrady on potential Kyrie vs. Steph 1-on-1 matchup

NBA legend Tracy McGrady was viewed as one of the most skilled players in the league during the prime of his career. In fact, many believed he could have rivaled the legendary Kobe Bryant if it weren't for his injury-ridden career.

That said, T-Mac was recently asked about a few hypothetical matchups between NBA stars. Among them, McGrady gave a smart answer to who would win between Irving and Curry in a hypothetical 1-on-1 matchup.

"Whoever gets the ball first," T-Mac said.

Now, that's a great answer. The former Orlando Magic star avoided causing an uproar in the NBA community by picking an outright winner. Rather, he believes the matchup will always go in the favor of the player who gets the ball first.

Curry vs. Irving in head-to-head matchups

Irving is usually dubbed as the most skilled player of this era. The former No. 1 overall pick has a deep bag and has used it to break many ankles on the court.

But Kai has come up short a few times when paired against Curry. The two legends have competed against each other 32 times, including the playoffs. Steph has 18 wins on his side, while Irving has 14.

As for their stats, Curry has averaged 23.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game vs. the Mavericks star. On the other hand, Kai has registered 25.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. In simple terms, the two stars have been pretty evenly matched when it comes to numbers. While Irving may edge Curry in scoring, the Warriors legend is better in rebounding and playmaking.
