Magic Johnson 's storytelling abilities are second to none, and the Michael Jackson anecdote he shared is undeniable proof.

Making an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the Los Angeles Lakers icon recounted how he and the "King of Pop" had a great time gobbling fried chicken in the latter's mansion. It began when Jackson personally reached out to the three-time MVP for a project.

"So, I get a call, 'Magic, I want to talk to you,' so I hung the phone up. I hung up," Johnson said , imitating Jackson's voice. "So the phone rings two minutes later, 'Magic, this is Michael Jackson.' I said, 'This is not Michael Jackson,' so I hung the phone up again."

    "Finger-lickin" dinner

It took Jackie Jackson, Michael's older brother, to confirm that it was indeed the music superstar on the other end of the line.

"So I got back and, I'm apologizing for an hour. 'I am so sorry.' I thought somebody was playing a joke on me, right?" Johnson continued. "So he says, 'I'm doing this video. I want to one with the two MJs, one with you and one with Michael Jordan. Can you come to my house tonight?' Can I come to your house?! What time do you want me there?!"

Fast forward to dinner time, and Magic couldn't believe what would happen. He ordered vegetables and grilled chicken from the chef, but Michael's "finger-lickin" dinner was the last thing he expected.

"The guy raised the lid, bam! Other person comes out with his, raised the lid and it's a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken! I start screaming, 'Michael, you eat Kentucky Fried Chicken?!' Man, I said, 'Hold up, I got to come down there and share that bucket with you.' I went down there, we sat on the floor and tore that chicken up," Johnson added.

Inspired by the "King of Pop"

While the pop superstar enjoyed fried chicken like everyone else, he was above everybody as a performer, and Magic was lucky enough to witness that firsthand.

The Lakers legend joined Jackson on two of his tours. Seeing how the legendary artist prepared for his concerts and how much effort he put into being at his best, Johnson felt inspired to improve as a basketball player . An all-time great NBA run proves that it worked.
