When Paul George joined the Los Angeles Clippers ahead of the 2019-20 NBA season, he was coming off a third-place finish in the previous year's MVP race. PG13 was expected to lead the Clippers to an NBA title alongside Kawhi Leonard .

However, after spending five seasons with the Clippers, George left the franchise earlier this offseason. The 9x NBA All-Star's separation from the organization was ugly, as the two sides couldn't agree on a potential contract extension.

Many found this shocking, as George once claimed he wanted to win a title with the Clippers . Unfortunately, that promise was never fulfilled, as PG13 signed a four-year, $211 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Paul George Sr. takes a shot at the Clippers

George invited his father, Paul George Sr., to a recent episode of the Podcast P via YouTube. George Sr. didn't mince his words about his son being backstabbed by the franchise.

"It was hurting," George Sr. said . "I feel like they stabbed us in the back because I thought Paul did a whole lot for the team. As far as the fan base, the fans was there. He was there. I think he gave them 110% and what he was asking, it wasn't a whole lot. But they seeing something different. But I didn't want him to just take anything, you know.

"So this whole thing, you know he does stand up for what he believe in. And so he felt like that was a bunch of bull that they came at him with and I wasn't going to sugarcoat it either."

During his stint with the Clippers, Playoff P averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game over 263 matchups. He also earned three NBA All-Star selections. But outside of it, George's stint with the Clippers was uneventful and full of injuries.

George highlighted the high point of his Clippers' career

For better or worse, George and the franchise couldn't agree to a contract extension. While the former 10th overall pick will earn an average of $52.8 million per year throughout his deal with the 76ers, his former team didn't want to offer more than an average salary of $30 million per season.

Despite the partnership ending on a sour note, George once shared that the highest point of his time as a Clipper came in 2021 . It was the season when the franchise made it to the Western Conference Finals, the farthest they reached during the George-Leonard era.

Now, the 6'8" forward will aim to win the first NBA Championship of his career with the 76ers. Considering he is already 34, Playoff P doesn't have a long time to become a champion, which would definitely help his NBA legacy.
