"I'm everywhere and everything" - Giannis agrees with Patrick Beverley omitting him from Top 5 power forwards list

Patrick Beverley recently caused a stir when he shared his five best power forwards today on his podcast. Pat's list includes Karl-Anthony Towns, Zion Williamson, Jaren Jackson Jr., Lauri Markkanen, and Draymond Green. A notable exclusion was Giannis Antetokounmpo.

When his co-host asked about the omission, Beverley explained that Antetokounmpo is not a four and plays positionless basketball like other stars. Interestingly, the two-time MVP agreed with the assertion, commenting on his former Milwaukee Bucks teammate's Instagram post .

    The Greek unicorn

According to Pat Bev, Giannis is technically a small forward, putting him on the same tier as Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Victor Wembanyama. The pesky defender even contended that Antetokounmpo would agree with him, which turned out to be correct.

To be fair to the former Bucks duo, Antetokounmpo isn't a prototypical power forward, more so since he handles the ball on most possessions. There was even a time when he assumed the point guard role when Jason Kidd was still coaching Milwaukee. The current Dallas Mavericks coach has even taken credit for creating the "Greek Freak" the NBA world knows today.

It's also interesting how Beverley brought up superstars similar to Giannis. While Durant and James are usually listed as power forwards in their respective teams' starting lineups, they, too, play positionless basketball. The same is true with Wembanyama, who has the stature of a center but moves around like a guard.

Such has been the trend in the NBA in recent years. Beverley knows that all too well, as he has not been confined to the stereotypical roles of the traditional basketball positions. While he is typically seen as a point guard primarily due to his height, Pat has played as more of a swingman.

    Parting ways

Antetokounmpo and Beverley didn't get to spend much time together, as the latter was traded to Milwaukee in the middle of the 2023-24 season. Yet, it seems they were able to get along well—enough for Giannis to leave a comment on Beverley's social media post.

It remains to be seen if "Mr. 94 Feet" will be back in the NBA in the future. For now, the 36-year-old is playing for Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Basketball Premier League and appears to have been enjoying his stint there on and off the court.

However, if Beverley gets the itch to return to the Association, perhaps Antetokounpo can put in a good word for him.
