Adrian Wojnarowski was best known for dropping 'Woj bombs' on social media. For years, Wojnarowski was almost always the first to break NBA news. On Wednesday, Adrian dropped his biggest 'Woj bomb' to date. And for the first time ever—and last time—it was about himself.

Wojnarowski announced that he is resigning from ESPN and retiring from media to become the general manager of the St. Bonaventure men's basketball program. While the news left his millions of followers in shock, Woj's ESPN buddy Adam Schefter was not. And he took time out to explain the wisdom behind Adrian's decision.

"We talked about this, and basically, he wanted his life back," Schefter said on 'NBA Today' on September 18. "He didn't want to have to work on holidays. He didn't want to be away from more family gatherings. He didn't want to have to, as we had to do in the past, take a shower with your phone up against the shower door so you can see a text that was coming in or take your phone with you to the urinal and hold it in one hand while you're trying to take care of your business in the other."

Woj was the bearer of NBA news

Since joining ESPN in 2017, Wojnarowski has become one of the most followed writers on social media because he is always ahead of everybody else when it comes to reporting NBA breaking news. Whether it was player trades, signings, injuries, or anything in between, Adrian was always the first to announce it on social media.

But while he made a lucrative career out of 'Woj bombs,' there were other things that Wojnarowski wanted to accomplish, things he called 'personally meaningful' to him. On top of that list was to return to his alma mater and serve the school and community by helping student-athletes. So, Woj decided to leave for what he called his dream job, which was to become an executive for the men's basketball program at St. Bonaventure.

"I am so happy for him for doing exactly what it is that he wants to do," added Schefter. "He is looking for a job that is more gratifying, and more fulfilling, and he loves his school, he loves the St. Bonaventure basketball program. He's going to do unbelievable things for that school. But I will miss him. I'm really happy for him. It's hard for me to imagine that LeBron James outlasted Woj in the NBA."

    Schefter makes NBA championship prediction

After saying his goodbyes to his longtime ESPN buddy, Schefter went out of his lane and made his fearless forecast for the 2025 NBA Finals. Interestingly, Adam made a very bold prediction about the Oklahoma City Thunder .

"I'm gonna take the New York Knicks against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and I'm gonna crown OKC as the new NBA Champion," he declared. "If they do go ahead, and win it, I will officially be applying to take over Woj's job to become the new NBA insider."

We saw the last 'Woj bomb' dropped today. It will be interesting to see if we also heard the first 'Adam bomb' on the same day. The NBA season has yet to start, though, and as good as the Thunder are, winning it all will be as hard as Wojnarowski's old job.
