"We made sure he didn't lose a kidney" - Jalen Rose said Vince Carter once body-slammed Raptors head coach in the locker room

Fans hear millions of crazy NBA stories, but this old Toronto Raptors locker room tale by Jalen Rose might just take the cake. Rose relayed this on Grantland's Story Time, so basketball aficionados might want to take it with a grain of salt.

According to the 1994 first-round pick, a locker room tussle broke out between Vince Carter and then Raptors coach Sam Mitchell.

"We're in the locker room, and someone is sitting on the training table getting their ankles taped. I'm sitting on the stool, and Vince (Carter) is sitting on the other training table getting some treatment," Rose said . "And Sam Mitchell made a comment to Vince about always being injured and always being on the training table."

This ribbing resulted in light nudging, which then quickly turned into a full-on wrestling match.

"Vince got this arm underneath his crotch. Now he got him up like this," the former Fab Five member claimed, demonstrating how Carter supposedly carried Mitchell. "If they're kicking and screaming, you might not be able to pick him up like Hulk Hogan, but you can still get him down real good."

And that's precisely what Vinsanity did. The UNC alum slammed his coach to the ground like a WWE superstar, resulting in a loud thud.

"We just made sure he had all of his bearings together, he didn't lose a kidney in the transaction or a rib or something. And then, as grown men, hate to say it, everybody starts laughing," added the 13-year NBA vet.

Sam Mitchell denied the locker room fight

Mitchell coached Carter in Toronto for a mere 20 games before the latter was traded to New Jersey. That only gave the supposed locker room brawl a very short window. However, the 2007 NBA Coach of the Year denied this tussle ever happened and alluded to Rose's reputation before believing anything coming from his mouth.

"Now think about that. Vince Carter, who you couldn't make go to the weight room, picked me up over his head, spun me around like I was a pizza, like some dough on a pizza platter, and then slammed me," Mitchell said on the Sportsnet's "Tim and Sid Show."

According to Mitchell, he was talking to Mo Peterson, who got hurt after practice, in the training room. VC came up from behind, bear-hugged him, and he stumbled and fell into one of the training tables. It was a lighthearted moment, and everyone was laughing about it.

" Consider the source. You know what blows my mind? And I don't attack people because I try to take the high road, but consider where it's coming from," said Mitchell. "Where in this person's history are the things that he said true? You are talking about a person who played at a university whose record has been expunged. And for what? Lying and cheating. Right?

Carter put Toronto on the map

We may never know the unadulterated truth about this incident unless Vince comes out and says it did or didn't happen. Nonetheless, "Half Man, Half Amazing" doesn't owe fans an explanation.

Locker room fights aside, Carter arrived in 905 at the perfect time and put the city on the map. He made five consecutive All-Stars and two All-NBA teams there and made the world hold its collective breath in the 2000 Slam Dunk contest. Vince averaged 27.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks in 12 playoff games in 2001 and was a must-see TV, especially wearing a Raptors uniform.

Carter's efforts won't go to waste. According to recent reports , the franchise will immortalize VC's #15 on November 2, when the Raptors host the Sacramento Kings.
