LeBron James says Bronny was only 5 when he predicted that he would make the NBA: "Oh, he is special"

The Los Angeles Lakers media day on Monday was special for superstar LeBron James because he got to face the press with his son Bronny by his side and wearing the same purple and gold jersey as him.

As everyone knows, LeBron and Bronny are now teammates in the City of Angels, and they are set to become the first father-and-son duo to share the NBA court.

While critics continue to question the Lakers' decision to draft Bronny in 2024, LeBron revealed he knew long ago that his son was destined for the NBA.

“I think he’s like five or six years old and he had did something," said The King. "He had grabbed a rebound and like drove coast to coast through the lane, through a couple of the other kids. And like laid it up, and had a little trot back. And I looked over at his mom, and I was like, ‘Oh, he is special.’”

    LeBron was right

According to LeBron, Savannah didn't take his words seriously at that time, and she even chided him for thinking that way about a 5-year-old. However, time would prove King James' vision to be prophetic.

In 2014, Bronny's highlights from the Roland Searles Holiday Classic in Houston went viral on the internet, and that was when he started to gain national attention. LeBron Jr. went on to star at Sierra Canyon School in high school and then played one season of NCAA basketball for the USC Trojans. Last June, Bron's foretelling became a reality when the Lakers drafted him.

"Like, I know I’ve seen this before," LeBron continued. "All the way to the point where he gets drafted. And I brought that back to his mom, and she was like, ‘I remember you said that, like, 12 years ago’.”

Not the first time he predicted the future.

You can call LeBron lucky for correctly calling that Bronny would get drafted. But it's not the first time that King James has successfully made a basketball prediction. Back when Steph Curry was still playing college ball at Davidson, he was asked if Curry would be good in the NBA, and James made a bold declaration.

"I think he knows how to play the game of basketball, " said LeBron. "Of course, you know, being the son of a former NBA player, Dell Curry, he was taught well to play the game of basketball. So he has a talent, he's good. I was impressed."

We all know how Curry's career turned out, but that's not all. The Lakers superstar also forecasted Kobe Bryant's iconic 81-point game, so this basketball Nostradamus thing isn't new to him. Don't tell these to his detractors, though, because they'll tell you these are just pure coincidences or Bron is "capping."
