NBA players are really happy with the current state of the league because the salary cap grows bigger each year, and the salaries are following the trend. However, that also makes them targets for potential robberies, and even though they invest a significant amount of money in home security, burglars sometimes still find a way.

DeMar DeRozan experienced this firsthand, as he once chased a burglar out of his house to protect his kids and family. Interestingly, while one would naturally assume that the culprit would have ill feelings toward the six-time All-Star, he targeted Deebo by mistake, and his intended target was a different celebrity—Kylie Jenner.

DeMar chased the burglar out of his residence

On November 19, 2020, an intruder broke into DeMar's Los Angeles home and his way upstairs to a play area where at least one of DeRozan's children was present. Hearing the growing commotion, the 6'6" shooting guard immediately sensed something was wrong. Without a second thought, he ran to the scene to confront the burglar directly and chased the man out of his house.

However, when the Sacramento Kings guard called law enforcement, the culprit had fled the scene. Not long after, the intruder still dared to return to the same gated community but this time, fortunately, was caught by security and the police were immediately alerted.

    Targeted another celebrity instead

The thief was eventually apprehended and charged with felony burglary. A restraining order was also issued, barring him from approaching DeRozan's residence. Maybe the most interesting part of the story was that, according to a report by TMZ, the suspect informed the authorities that DeMar's home was not his intended target; instead, he had been attempting to break into Kylie Jenner's home but entered the NBA star's by mistake. As a result, a separate restraining order was issued, prohibiting him from approaching Jenner's residence as well.

When asked about the attempted burglary in an interview, the 35-year-old guard downplayed the incident, stating that he has witnessed much worse in life and that chasing a burglar out of his home to protect his children and family wasn't a big deal for him.

"Yeah, everything good. I grew up in Compton, California . "I've been through worse," DeRozan concluded .
