It is clear that Victor Wembayama isn't stopping after registering a historic rookie campaign. Moreover, being mindful of his shortcomings, the 7'4" center has diligently worked throughout the summer to gain even better momentum and be at his 'A-Game' to improve his trajectory in the 2024-25 season.

While his performance for the French national team during the Olympics was sensational, helping them win a silver medal, Shams Charania is most impressed by Wemby's determination to improve his weak points and get even better.

    Shams on Vic's dedication

After putting up 21.4 points and a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game in his rookie season, there's no arguing that Victor deserved to win much more than just the ROY award. However, even after such a historic feat, he wasn't blindsided by the success. Instead, the Spurs center recognized where he needed to improve, mainly by adding muscle and strength to his frame, which will only help Wembanyama capitalize on his guard-like skills.

On a recent episode of 'Get Up,' Charania gushed over Wemby's work ethic and determination to take no breaks and wholeheartedly put in the work to get even better in the upcoming 2024-25 season.

"You talk about detail and focus Victor Wembanyama has that. The day after the league season ended with the Spurs last year, he was in the gym. He was doing two-a-days as soon as last season ended," Shams said. "This is a guy last year… put on 10 to 15 pounds. This summer puts on 20 to 25 pounds. He is a relentless worker. He is focused ."

What can we expect from Wembanyama in the 2024-25 season?

As Wemby entered the 2024 training camp, he weighed 235 pounds, a notable 25-pound increase from last year. This clearly demonstrates Victor's intent to compete more aggressively against the NBA's most formidable big men. While this additional weight does not suggest that Wembanyama will adopt a physical bruising style of play, it will certainly aid him in holding his ground when opponents try to overpower him in the paint.

Considering Wemby already led the league in blocks, his impact while defending or attacking the rim with an enhanced physique could be truly remarkable. Certainly, it could make Vic head and shoulders above the rest of the players in the DPOY race.

So, while the Spurs have added a veteran floor general in Chris Paul to help Wembanyama get easier looks in the 2024-25 season, the latter is also doing everything he can to help San Antonio register a better record.
