After the Los Angeles Lakers ' 15-point first-half lead against the Sacramento Kings turned into a seven-point deficit by the fourth quarter, it seemed Domantas Sabonis would improve his record against Anthony Davis to 11-0. But on Saturday night, 39-year-old LeBron James made sure his superstar teammate finally broke the curse, sparking a fourth-quarter comeback to secure a 131-127 victory.

Kendrick Perkins couldn't help but marvel at the Lakers superstar after they improved to 3-0 to start the 2024-25 campaign.

Perkins was in awe of LeBron

With the Kings ' big three combining for 80 points and 23 assists, with two of them logging double-doubles (Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox), it looked like the Lakers were on track to endure their first loss of the season. However, LBJ dropped 16 of the team's first 21 points in the last quarter—11 straight—to help go on a 14-0 run and secure a comeback win.

Beyond his scoring, the 6'9" forward also made a big impact by making plays for others when coach Mike Brown's team came within striking distance in the closing minutes. Watching the oldest player in the NBA dominate the game, "Big Perk" was all praise for the four-time NBA Champion.

    Off to a hot start

While James took charge in the early and middle sections of the fourth, Anthony Davis also played a pivotal role, tallying his third straight 30-point game, including knocking down a clutch free throw to keep the game out of the Kings' reach.

AD finished with 31 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals, and two blocks. All the other members of the Lakers' starting five scored in double digits, with Rui Hachimura dropping 18 and D'Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves chipping in 16 points each.

With each player having a more defined role on the team, JJ Redick's Lakers seem like a powerhouse three games into the season. It's still too early to declare them title contenders, but if they can keep this up, the purple and gold will undoubtedly be a serious threat in the Western Conference.
