Pay attention: Love is in front of you

    2023-09-10
Al met his wife in the hallway of the airport’s restroom.

Our five senses are the most powerful assets humans and animals can possess. Too often, people's sight and hearing can put them in the lucky corner of the universe. Many people use these senses to their advantage anyway and anyhow.

International flights at the end of summer can sometimes be crowded and confusing. You must use all your senses to ensure you are safe and alive in the busy, massive airports.

Love in the airport: AI's story

A young American returned to America after spending a few years in Barcelona, Spain. He was hired by the tech industry in the state, and his first assignment was in Spain.

While in Spain, he learned Spanish from the native speakers and used his time on the plane returning home to brush up his business Spanish instead of sleeping. However, he fell asleep and woke up after the plane landed in JFK, NY. It was too late for him to use the bathroom on the plane, and he had rushed to use the airport restroom before his connecting flight to Boston, MA.

He rushed to the bathroom and bumped into a petite woman, Alicia, wearing high heels and a yellow dress, walking out of the bathroom. He knocked her to the floor, and her handbag flew into the hallway's corner. Al froze and was confused about what to do. In fact, he was still half asleep. He apologized, helped the woman to her feet, and helped with her bag. The woman was calm and accepted his apology.

She joked, "Are you still sleeping?"

    Al muttered, "Kind of."

An older woman with a stern face lectured AI, "Welcome to New York."

After AI went to the bathroom, he met Alicia again in the waiting area. He remembered, "We talked and exchanged phone numbers. She was heading to San Francisco, and I was heading to Boston. I did not call her for about two weeks and did not expect her to contact me. The following month, I called her, and we spoke for about an hour.

"After three years of bumping into Alicia, we now share one bathroom in San Francisco— husband and wife. We got married last month."
