ROAD STATUS: LA 139 at LA 1268 (Naff Avenue) intersection in Bastrop to change to an all-way stop, work begins Thursday, July 11th

MOREHOUSE PARISH, La. (KTVE/KARD) — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces plans to change the intersection of LA 139 and LA 1268 (Naff Avenue) on the south side of Bastrop to an ALL-WAY stop with plans to go into effect on Thursday, July 11, 2024, weather permitting.

According to DOTD, this change resulted from a traffic engineering study conducted by DOTD. The study showed that traffic data and crash history, as well as possible countermeasures, could be implemented to potentially improve the intersection’s safety.

That study recommended converting the intersection to an ALL-WAY stop. Studies have shown that converting a two-way stop can reduce crashes.

DOTD reminds drivers to be safe and careful while driving and to be on the lookout for crews and equipment as construction begins on intersection.
