Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office has taken several reports of stolen AT&T utility wires throughout Lafayette County since January.

Through an investigation, several persons of interest were developed from people scrapping copper wire in north Mississippi.

Kevin Smith, 47, of Sardis, and Timothy Nissen, 39, and Lisa Nissen, 37, both of Batesville, were arrested on a traffic stop on South Lamar Boulevard and charged with grand theft.

They were taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

Smith and Timothy Nissen were each booked on a $25,000 bond, and Lisa Nissen received a $15,000 bond.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information on utility wire theft should call the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office at 662-234-6421 or your local law enforcement agency.
