Uvalde school officer pleads not guilty
A former Uvalde school police officer pleaded not guilty last week to charges of failing to protect children killed and wounded in the 2022 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.Adrian Gonzales is one of two officers who have been indicted after the slow response to the shooter by nearly 400 law enforcement personnel, The Dallas Morning News reported.Gonzales and former Uvalde schools police Chief Pete Arredondo were indicted by a Uvalde grand jury in June. Uvalde resident Jennifer Gilleland announces run for city's mayor
Uvalde resident Jennifer Gilleland has called for local law enforcement accountability for two years, since a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary. The police took 77 minutes to end the massacre, with some of the victims taking their last breaths on the way to the hospital. After being dissatisfied with the town’s leadership after the shooting, Gilleland announced this month that she’s running for mayor.

UTRGV Athletics to limit football season ticket sales to 6,000
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced that season tickets for the football season will be limited to 6,000. "UTRGV is hard at work to ensure the Rio Grande Valley community has the best game day experience possible. As a part of that process, it has been determined that limiting season ticket deposits to 6,000 will be necessary to accommodate enough seats for season ticket holders, UTRGV students, the marching band, the player pass list, and the visiting team pass list," a spokesperson for the athletic department said.
