Owner Mike Sweet is remaining in the industry, but giving up ownership of the business he founded on state Route 54 in 2016.

“I have taken a new job with Empire Merchants, the second largest distributor of alcohol in New York state, and this job will not allow me to hold two state liquor licenses,” said Sweet. “The building is for sale and has received some interest.”

The 5,300 square foot metal sided building was built in 2016. The property, on a little over a half-acre lot, is currently listed for $595,000 by Cushman & Wakefield Pyramid Brokerage Company.

Sweet said closing this store has created some sadness, but the new job has also created excitement.

“It's been like a freight train closing this store,” said Sweet, who is also the mayor of the Village of Bath. "It means that much."

A store liquidation sale is underway, with 40% off all purchases Thursday and 50% off on Saturday.

Sweet said in 2016 he envisioned opening a wine store that was different from all others in the area.

"I hired people who shared my vision and have always provided the best customer service you can find anywhere," said Sweet. “I feel fortunate to have made so many friends over the years, whether they were customers, employees, or vendors and will miss seeing all their faces, but all good things come to an end, and this is like any other.”

Sweet will celebrate the store's final day on Wednesday, July 3 with drinks and light snacks available from 3:30-6:30 p.m.

"We have never been perfect, but our customers have," said Sweet. "We love each one of you that has become part of our extended family!"
