    Bath woman arrested, allegedly attempted to commit fraud

    BATH, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A Bath woman is facing charges after police say she impersonated a county employee.

    Heather L. Johnson, 43, was arrested on July 8. According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson attempted to defraud someone by pretending to be a Steuben County employee from January through March.

    Johnson was charged with first-degree criminal impersonation (a class E felony) and attempted theft of services.

    Johnson was released on an appearance ticket and will appear in the Village of Bath Court at a later date.

    The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office investigated this case.
