BATH, N.Y. ( WETM ) – Steuben County is receiving over $75,000 in funds to support a project that is said to help attract new businesses to the region, as announced by Congressman Nick Langworthy.

The taxpayer-funded grant comes from the Appalachian Regional Commission and will be matched by local funds for a total of $150,000 to support the project. The grant will support the IDA’s Route 54 Industrial Site Analysis in Bath.

“Steuben County has a proud history as a manufacturing powerhouse, and this funding will help us build on that legacy,” said Congressman Langworthy. “By investing in the necessary site analyses, we can attract new advanced manufacturing companies, create jobs and strengthen the local economy. I’m proud to support this initiative, which will pave the way for future growth in our region.”

The project has been put in place to support pre-developmental site analyses that are necessary to attract advanced manufacturing companies to Steuben County. These analyses will include traffic studies, utility studies and more along Route 54.

The studies are said to help make improvements to the site to prepare it for construction, as well as provide the IDA with a review of possible tax incentives to attract new businesses to the area.
