BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The executive chef of Juban’s Restaurant and Bar will compete with 16 others on a Food Network show.

The name Chris Motto might seem familiar. He was voted Best Chef in Best of 225 in 2021 and was named in Baton Rouge Business Report’s Forty under 40 in 2018.

Motto will compete against other chefs in “Chopped: Spin It to Win It.” The cooking tournament is decided by a wheel of chance that picks who competes in each episode. The wheel also picks the ingredients they use.

“It was a great experience getting to know some very talented chefs from across the country,” Motto said. “It does create a stressful environment working in an unfamiliar kitchen with a brutal clock counting down on you.”

It’s not his first time on TV. He competed in season 18 of “Hell’s Kitchen .”

He learned a lot while on the show, including ingredients he would not prefer to cook with.

You will have to wait until Motto’s episode airs to see his dishes, but he said he stands by his decisions, even with 20/20 hindsight.

“I don’t really claim any signature dishes. I enjoy creating all types of food, often meshing different cuisines to balance textures and flavors,” he said.

He has been at Juban’s for over two years and has more than 20 years of experience in professional kitchens. Motto said he will continue to do his part in helping promote Baton Rouge as a culinary destination.

The show airs Tuesdays at 7 p.m. CST and runs from Feb. 8 to Feb. 27 on Food Network.
