    BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Looking to find your next furry friend? Baton Rouge has several places where you can adopt an animal.

    There are several places around the capital city that have a selection of adoptable dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, rabbits and Guinea pigs. Many animals at these adoption houses come spayed, neutered, vaccinated and/or microchipped.

    Adoption fees vary for every adoption place in Baton Rouge. Adoption places around Baton Rouge have a mission to bring in animals that are in need and provide them with a forever home.

    Friends of the Animals Dog Adoption House

    The Friends of the Animals Dog Adoption House has a variety of adoptable dogs and puppies. According to their website, all animals at the adoption house are “spayed, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.”

    • Hours: Open from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

    Companion Animal Alliance

    Companion Animal Alliance has a selection of adoptable animals that come microchipped, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and given flea and heartworm protection. According to their website, adoption fees range from $25-$200.

    • Hours: Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
    • Location: 2550 Gourrier Ave.

    Capital Area Animal Welfare Society

    The Capital Area Animal Welfare Society has several cats and dogs for adoption. Click here to fill out an adoption application.

    • Hours: Open from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
    • Location: 6357 Quinn Drive.

    K9 Rogue Rescue

    K9 Rogue Rescue helps dogs in need find their forever homes. Typical adoption fees at K9 Rogue Rescue are $250, while large dogs are $200, according to their website.

    • Location: Baton Rouge.

    Cat Haven

    Find your next furry friend when you visit Cat Haven. According to their website, adoption fees are $125 for cats who are seven months or older and $135 for kittens up to seven months old.

    • Hours: Open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday; noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
    • Location: 11130 N. Harrells Ferry Road.

    Magic Happens Rabbit Rescue

    Magic Happens Rabbit Rescue is a foster home based in Baton Rouge. According to their website, the rabbit rescue’s mission is to take in animals that can find their next home while also having them spayed and neutered.

    PetSmart (3 locations)

    PetSmart is your go-to store if you own a pet, and it also offers in-store adoptions. According to its website, it provides spaces to help adoptable pets find their forever homes.

    • Hours: Open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
    • Location: 8660 Airline Hwy., 10527 S. Mall Drive and 1653 Millerville Road.

    East Baton Rouge Parish Animal Control & Rescue Center

    Services include animal sheltering, adoptions, rescue, fostering and euthanasia services.

    • Hours: Open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
    • Location: 2680 Progress Road.
