The NFL Draft is just weeks away, but for some league hopefuls, this time when everything is out of their hands is when their stock drops the most.

In the case of superstar LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers, rumors have leaked anonymously calling him "high maintenance," which he has since disputed.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels and Nabers addressed the rumors while on Instagram live. Daniels asked Nabers about the anonymous claims regarding him, and the receiver dismissed them as baseless.

"Cap..." Nabers said . "You know they gotta pick somebody in this draft. I guess they just pick me."

Up until recently, the only discussion surrounding Nabers was whether he would be the first wide receiver selected in this year's NFL Draft . Nabers is coming off of an outstanding season in his junior year.

In 2023, Nabers had a tremendous season down in Baton Rouge , accounting for 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns. He followed up his stellar performance on the field with arguably an even more impressive Pro Day performance.

At LSU's Pro Day, Nabers ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash and had a vertical leap of 42 inches, displaying elite athleticism while standing 6-0 tall and weighing 200 pounds, a solid build for an NFL receiver.

Whether or not this rumor circulating Nabers actually impacts his draft stock remains to be seen. Back in 2017, Florida State running back Dalvin Cook was already regarded as a Pro Bowl-caliber running back entering the league. Yet, just before his draft , rumors regarding his character were floated out in similar anonymous reports to Nabers. He fell from being viewed as a first-rounder to becoming the No. 9 pick in the second round while two other backs went ahead of him in the first.

Cook would eventually face domestic violence accusations, though that did not stop the New York Jets from extending an offer last offseason.

Hopefully, if the Nabers' accusations are meritless, they don't have a similar effect on his draft stock as they did on Cook. Regardless, he'll have an entire career to prove the type of player he is -- just as Cook did by making four Pro Bowls.
