Kids, family can attend new music festival coming to Baton Rouge this fall

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Metro Rouge is an annual, family-friendly music and arts festival. Ken Bloxson, the event executive producer, said the hope is for Metro Rouge to become the city’s version of Jazz Fest.

The first one-day festival is scheduled for Sept. 21 at the Throw Dat Dirt ATV Park and is free to the public. Bloxson said attendees can be assured there will be no inappropriate acts, language or behavior.

“We expect to have BRPD presence and ask that our patrons abide by the same rules,” Bloxson said.

He said multiple applications have been received from music acts, food trucks and arts and crafts vendors, and more are welcome to apply .

“The festival board will be going through all applications to make sure we don’t get too many similar vendors. We want to deliver a diverse as possible festival that offers a little bit of everything,” he said.

The full lineup and parking information will be on the website as the date gets closer, he said.

The Metro Rouge Music and Arts Project, Throw Dat Dirt, LLC, Henry Turner’s Listening Room Music Foundation, Bullfish Bistro and Chef Celeste LLC, are presenting the festival.

Bloxson said they are actively looking for sponsors and partners .

“All sponsorships are tax deductible and will be paid and distributed through our nonprofit fiscal partner, the Henry Turner Jr. Museum Foundation,” Bloxson said.
