This year, Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 16. Father’s Day is believed to be celebrated to honor the fathers across the nation. History reports that Mother’s Day was the inspiration for starting Father’s Day. A woman in Washington tried to create an equal celebration of Mother’s Day for the male parent figures. She was able to convince government officials and the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Washington on June 19, 1910.
By 1924, President Calvin Coolidge urged states to observe Father’s Day as a national holiday.

Brunch
