Ruston (La.) three-star cornerback Aidan Anding , one of Miami’s top cornerback targets in the 2025 class who official visited last month, initially planned to announce a commitment around the end of June. But after receiving an offer from LSU late last week, the athletic cornerback said he wants more time to consider his options.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound cornerback visited Miami, Texas, TCU and Arkansas last month and told Inside Texas during his official visit to Austin that he planned to commit this past weekend. But Anding told CaneSport that his sudden offer from LSU Friday night has made him “want to hold back for a little bit longer.” He clarified that he still plans to announce a commitment before the season, but wants “to see what LSU has to offer” before he makes a final decision before the start of his senior year.

Miami and Texas both made strong impressions on Anding last month between the Longhorns’ numerous players from Louisiana and the Hurricanes’ strong ties to the state with defensive coordinator Lance Guidry and secondary coach Chevis Jackson . Miami has maintained daily communication with Anding since his official visit and has made him feel prioritized and has given him plenty to think about.

“All of the coaching staff, they all showed me love on the visit,” Anding said. “They made me feel welcomed. I’d been communicating with the staff every day, so when I went up there it didn’t feel shocking or anything. I felt like these people were family up there. That was big.”

Anding said he likes that both Miami and Texas have prioritized recruiting in the state of Louisiana, although he didn’t plan to overlook his home-state school after receiving the offer from LSU. Arkansas and TCU are also in the mix, but Guidry and Jackson have helped Miami remain a contender.

“I think very highly of them,” Anding said. “I know they develop great defensive backs, and I feel like they could help me get to the next level. I feel like that with all of the coaches really. All of my top schools, their coaches do a great job developing DBs.”

Anding plans to visit LSU and Arkansas for unofficial visits at the end of July. Anding believes it’ll be important to visit LSU’s campus given the recent recruiting push and the offer that the Tigers have made.

He has not set a hard decision date.

    CaneSport’s Take

LSU will definitely be a major contender for Anding if it aggressively pushes for the three-star cornerback, although offering during a dead period means the Tigers will have a limited window to get Anding to campus before a decision. Either way, there’s a new player in his recruitment.
