LSU’s impressive pitching haul via the transfer portal continued on Friday as the team added a commitment from Dallas Baptist right-hander Connor Benge, according to his Instagram bio.

A native of Montgomery, Texas, Benge made 22 appearances and pitched 33 innings as a sophomore in 2024, finishing with a 1-1 record and 5.73 ERA as he struck out 35 and walked 22. He began his career at the junior college level in Louisiana, pitching for LSU-Eunice in 2023.

Benge was a Third Team All-American that season, ranking second in the NJCAA with 11 wins and leading his team in ERA (2.82), innings pitched (70.1), and strikeouts (86). He now returns to Louisiana after spending the last year in Dallas.

As his 2024 numbers show, Benge is a bit of a raw talent. He ranked as the No. 500 player and 343 right-handed pitcher nationally coming out of high school, but he could break into the rotation for an LSU staff that lost quite a bit of pitching depth to the portal this offseason, in addition to the arms expected to depart in the draft.
