5-star safety DJ Pickett announces college commitment between Oregon Ducks, LSU Tigers

The Oregon Ducks seemed to be set up for another big commitment on Wednesday afternoon, but the tides turned at the last minute.

Sometimes that’s just how things go in the recruiting world.

5-star S DJ Pickett announced his commitment to the LSU Tigers on Wednesday evening, picking them over Oregon and the Miami Hurricanes. Pickett is rated as the No. 6 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 1 safety.

All is not lost for the Ducks, who are still projected to land 5-star safety Trey McNutt later this week, but missing out on the Pickett commitment certainly hurts.

Don’t expect Lanning and his team to stop recruiting the elite defensive back, though. It would come as no surprise to see them try and flip him before signing day in December.
