LSU swipes 5-star wide receiver over other top SEC programs

As if the LSU Tigers weren't already loaded for 2025, another 5-star is heading to Baton Rouge.

On3's Steve Wiltfong shared on X that wide receiver Derek Meadows had chosen LSU.

The move comes as a slight surprise to some recruiting analysts. On3 had predicted the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as the favorites to land the 4-star wide receiver. Instead, he decided to choose LSU and head coach Brian Kelly's staff. The Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs had also been in the running for the star wideout.

247Sports had Meadows ranked as a 5-star wide receiver. The top-ranked player in Nevada, he's a 6-foot-5 receiver that should quickly find his way onto the field for the Tigers.

"Meadows is a jumbo receiver and one of the more intriguing players in the ’25 class," 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins wrote. "He has a rare combination of size, athleticism and body control and is only scratching the surface of how good we think he can be."

Meadows will come into LSU with fellow 2025 5-star recruit Bryce Underwood . The top-ranked quarterback in the country is widely considered the No. 1 player nationally for the recruiting class. Now, he'll have another top-tier weapon to throw to once the both of them are starters.

On top of Underwood and Meadows, LSU also secured a commitment from Harlem Berry, the No. 1 running back in the 2025 class. All of these commitments have helped LSU secure third-ranked recruiting class in the country behind only the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes.

It may not happen overnight, but the combination of Underwood, Berry, and Meadows could quickly turn into one of the most electric offensive skill groups in college football.
