LSU Football Player Arrested, Suspended For Serious Allegations

LSU Tigers cornerback Javien Toviano surrendered to police on Sunday (July 21) in relation to accusations of recording himself having sex with a woman without her consent, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office announced via NOLA.com .

Toviano, 19, of Arlington, Texas, faces charges of video voyeurism after the woman told detectives she found footage of herself and the football player on his iPad that were recorded through a clock with a built-in camera placed near the bed, according to an warrant states. LSU confirmed that Toviano "has been suspended from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies" in a statement obtained by NOLA.com .

The sophomore was expected to compete for playing time at the cornerback position during LSU's preseason practice, which is scheduled to begin on August 1.

"We will not have further comment out of respect for the legal process," the statement added via NOLA.com .

The woman told detectives that Toviano had previously recorded them having sex without her consent and that she had told him she didn't want to be recorded prior to finding the footage on his iPad. The cornerback admitted to using a hidden camera inside the clock to record sexual encounters without consent while being interviewed by detectives.

Toviano rated as a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 7 safety, No. 15 player from the state of Texas and the No. 88 overall prospect for the 2023 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings . The cornerback appeared in all 13 of LSU's games as a freshman and recorded 33 tackles, one pass defended and one fumble recovery.
